Tintinnabulations!

Description

Sketched at both a car-wash and at 'work'. I should have spent more time cleaning it because it can only be considered a doodle now with all those stray blue lines and half-flat coloring. He's not a character, just a design. There's no energy to fill him. I was curious to see if I could pull off a more circusy-design. He's not a jester, more of an entity. Sort of. Here's what I have so far:

~Name taken from my favorite Poe-m. He gets irritated when people forget the S at the end. With the S, tintinnabulations are all-encompassing! Without, they're just one thing, over quickly.

~Colors from whatever ordinary hat he wears bleed into his gray hair. His eyes are the same grey, but they cannot absorb color. Tint doesn't like having his hair uncovered, so in the event that he's not wearing a hat, he'll be in a bandanna. He dresses in a different color each day because he's upset that he doesn't have any natural coloring of his own. You'll never see him in the same thing twice. He's kind of smitten with goofy costumes. And he hates black. Hates it.

~His favorite color combination is gold, purple and green. That's his favorite day, too.

~He loves flipping and would flip instead of walk if he could. He tried it once, but he kept bumping into people. He's pretty flexible, but not a contortionist. He juggles a bit, but he'll be the first to point out that most others are better at it. He stilt-walks here and there, and goes high with the silk ribbons wrapped around him. He dabbles in acting, too, just little skits if there's need for it. Here he is playing the part of sweet Ferdinand the Bull from the children's book of the same name.

~When he takes time off he likes to visit antique stores to peddle or to explore. He never buys, (counting money is something he never had to learn about, he's bad at math) but he has been known to trade. Sometimes he trades for coins, but he has a different value system for them. He likes having a drop of silver or gold that he can pull out of his pocket and admire.

~Under his clothing there is nothing but a shining outline. Literally. He'll make skin to fill whatever neckline he chooses, or if he's not wearing gloves, or if he's not wearing a mask. He's an entity, and I'm not sure how to describe it any farther than that.

~His room appears empty, bare wood and a humble bed-- until you cross the threshold. Then it becomes sunny, and outside, with trees and lots of glass bottles hanging from them and casting rainbows everywhere. He worked hard on it. You can only see this if you're invited. If you're not and you enter the room, all you will see is the blank room.

~He doesn't understand physical attraction. Not just that he's asexual-- he is-- but that he doesn't understand why anyone would want to kiss or go further than that. He also has no idea what humans look like below the waist.

~Referenced from: [link] which is why that hand looks gargantuan.

~Image music:
Yes > Miracle of Life
Yuki Kajira > Red Rose
See-Saw > most things by them
Hunchback of Notra Dame > Topsy Turvy
The Spyro the Dragon Magic Crafters (I think that's what they were called? It's been a while.)World music

~Music? He doesn't really listen to it much. He prefers eye-candy to ear-candy.

Two months late... 5 point critique

- The clothes here... They feel much too smooth... Like the shirt and the scarfy belt. They need wrinkles to feel real. Unless its's skin tight there's almost always wrinkles and those wrinkles gotta carry through the clothes. For instance the scarfy-belt I can sort of tell theres wrinkles but, the end of the scarfy-belt doesn't reflect that.

- On that note... the wrinkles aren't dark enough.

- Stylistic thing but use more angles rather than curves with the shirt some parts just feel a bit to smoothe. When in doubt... angle-curve. Basically, you take something and on the outside you angle it, then you do a curve on the inside (or the other way around... I call that a curve angle)

- The hand looks like it got mangled in a wood chipper. Hands are difficult though... so I feel bad critiquing this. Now I feel bad

+ Your overall construction seems to be good from what I see and that's the biggest mistake others (and myself) make.

Ratings (out of 10. 10 being on the level of the masters of the art form...)

Construction: 6/10. Construction is solid...Bit too smooth but your overall setup is good.
Colour: 3/10. Colour is good... nothing great though. Adds to the picture nicely... which is better than most cases
Line Art 3/10. The line art... lacks a certain depth in my opinion. They're mostly in the right place BUT you need to add that depth. It's not an easy thing to do though.
Vision: NR. I'm not rating vision. It's not super important here. The drawing isn't something super unique but it's good.
Overall 4/10. Not bad especially for a doodle which lacks some of the features of a final drawing... And considering 6 is generally my cap for things that aren't amazing... not bad at all
